About Us
The Blue Community Organization was created by Rick & Dahlia Rondeau to help families cope with the daily challenges of autism. The isolation that parents experience with autism can be overwhelming and stressful. Blue is the official color associated with autism and we wanted to create a simple, recognizable image, logo and brand that can one day be a symbol for families everywhere, who are looking for autistic friendly businesses and venues. This image on the window of an establishment can give parents of autistic children much needed emotional relief as they try to live their lives as normally as possible by going out for a meal, a movie, any experience outside the home.
We have 3 beautiful children, 2 of which (our 6-year-old twin boys) have been diagnosed with autism. Our daily life is much different from all of our friends and we appreciate the simple pleasures of life more than ever now. Our purpose in creating The Blue Community is to build a grassroots community whose sole purpose is to help end the isolation associated with autism.
We intend to do this by:
1.
Raising much needed money for people, families and charities who are faced with additional expenses and needs, and/ or thrive off donations, to help with their own plight with autism.
2.
Educating businesses and winning their support in offering “autistic friendly” options to their establishments, whether it be everyday, or one specific day per week or per month to help out the autistic community. Our Blue stickers will be available for all businesses who want to be part of The Blue Community and show their support.
3.
Creating an extensive list of resources for families with autistic children and adults. This includes developing a list of volunteers who can help families with the simplest of needs. Often another set of hands around the house for a few hours, can help the mom or dad of an autistic child be able to go out together or feel supported by their community in some way.
We are putting together a talented, driven group of people who will be focused on making The Blue Community a success in helping to end the isolation of autism. One success story at a time.
